Copyrights & Permissions
Want to use my content for a roundup post?
Or anything else for that matter? The answer is yes you may, but with the following guidelines…
If you wish to use any content from my blog in something like a round-up post, social media post, or cookbook, the answer is yes but please follow the following guidelines.

The Recipe Itself
The way I understand intellectual property in regards to recipes is that nobody can copyright ingredients, nor can they really tag common processes like baking, but they can copyright the wording of the process, and the photographs they take. You would probably be free to take any recipe, make it yourself, and write out your own process for doing it. Sharing where it came from is only a request.
But for every recipe I share, I also share where I got that recipe from. If you see that I got it from another blogger or cook or chef, and tweaked it to my taste, please contact them for permissions to use their recipe.

The Photos
I use several types of photographs on this website: Photos I take myself, and some stock photos. So I cannot make a blanket statement that all the stuff on here is my copyright.
I’m pretty lenient about photo usage because I’m more of an artist than a business person, which I’m sure is directly related to the fact that I wanted to major in art but instead majored in business because everyone, and I mean everyone, told me there’s no jobs in art. So sharing my art is like my life-long middle finger to that business major. Plus I feel like I make a lot of crap that is not getting used; it’s nice someone finds it useful.
For the most part, photos of a finished food dish are photos I took. If not, I would specify otherwise. You are more than welcome to contact me and ask. I would actually prefer you to share my photos of finished dishes than to use a stock photo that isn’t of the prepared dish.
To link to a recipe

Round Up Posts, linking for any reason on your website, or within an article you are writing…
✅ You can use a photograph of the finished dish that is on my website as a visual related to a link of my recipe.
✅ You can use my photo in both your blog post and Pinterest Pin.
✅ Do use alt text that describes the photo to visually impaired people without being annoying, and include the phrase “Food My Kids Will Eat” somewhere, but only mention it once.
✅ Please Link any and all links to the relevant recipe instead of to the site as a whole unless you are simply recommending the site as a whole.
✅ Please use a rich keyword text to link to the recipe OR a compelling call to action
✅ You may list ingredients without the process like a rich Pin.
❌ Do not use a photograph for a recipe that is not the recipe.
❌ Do not copy and paste the recipe.
Please use a photo of actual dish
When it comes to recipes, people see a photo and assume that’s what the dish looks like when finished. It’s unethical to show a dish that isn’t prepared from the recipe it is associated with. I’d rather the transparency, so please use my copyrighted photo when you need a visual associated to my recipe, or make the recipe and take a photo of your results.
For example, do not use a Pork Chops stock photo on my recipe for Pork Chops, or Pork Roast. If you must use a stock photo, make sure it’s relevant but not of an actual dish, so like a Pig Illustration for Pork Chops.

To Use in Social Media posts & Pinterest

Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest in regards to your Roundup Post, or maybe you’re just making my recipe on video as an influencer, or whatever…
- You can use my photos in your Pinterest Pins and Social Media with other photos that are in your roundup.
- If you want to share solely just my photo on your social media or Pinterest, I would prefer you find my Pinterest Pin or Social Media Post and share that.
To Use in a Cookbook

Whether print or ebook, I’m ok with you using any of my recipes because like for real, my version of the steps isn’t exactly creative writing. The whole point of recipe sharing is so that other people will use the recipe.
- You are more than welcome to use any of my photos but I probably have a better resolution somewhere for print if you want to inquire in email about that. You are definitely allowed to make the food and take your own photos too.
- If you can, please attribute the recipe back my way like, “Recipe provided by Michelle Grewe at Food My Kids Will Eat.” I think I prefer both my name and website name, but I would also be happy if you did ANY of that at all.
- Please don’t claim to come up with a recipe you get from me… Especially if the recipe is unique, because I might be trying to submit that to some award or something somewhere. Also especially if the recipe is a spin-off of someone else’s recipe like that’s not fair to them. I’m usually transparent on the blog about where I got my recipes from.
